On Thursday evening an audience of parents and students enjoyed the much anticipated Year 7 production of Tempest Island, an original adaptation of The Tempest specially devised by the Drama department with speaking roles for every student in the year-group.
The performance itself was smooth, high quality and thoroughly entertaining; no mean feat when bringing together a whole year-group with limited time to rehearse together on stage. Every girl had lines in the play, and each Form took charge of one scene. Songs were masterfully rehearsed in Music lessons, and Drama lessons were spent rehearsing the dialogue and characterisations. Collaboration is key with large scale productions such as this one, and tribute must be paid to the dedicated Year 10, Year 8 and Upper Sixth Tech Club, who voluntarily gave up one hour of their time to create our wonderful set the day before the play.
Congratulations to all involved for a tremendous and memorable production.
