SportCompetition and Participation

At Godolphin and Latymer we seek to instil a lifelong love of sport and fitness by offering choice and opportunity across all abilities and all year groups. Sport underpins and reinforces the values that we look to nurture in a Godolphin girl: respectful, resilient, responsible and determined. Every girl, regardless of ability, is supported and encouraged to pursue her sporting passions – whatever they may be – and to take part individually or to represent house or school teams.

As a single-sex school, all of our sports facilities, coaching and sports timetable are geared to girls sport so, for instance, our students are timetabled to play both netball and hockey in the Autumn and Winter/Spring terms. Our state-of-the-art facilities are all onsite – so no time is wasted travelling by bus. Our teachers and coaches are committed to helping girls to realise their potential and for many students, this includes competing at the very highest level. However, just as important as a clutch of medals are the friendships forged in being a part of a team, the boost to a student’s self-confidence and the physical and mental health benefits of exercise. Increasing participation in sport across all year groups and all abilities remains one of the school’s key objectives.

Sport plays an important part in the life of pupils for enjoyment and at a competitive level. Many excel, representing the school at county, national or international level.
