News Wallingford Regatta 04.05.2023

Last Sunday our J15, J16, and J18 rowers travelled to Eton Dorney to race at the Wallingford Regatta.

The Wallingford Regatta hosts top club and school crews, and is an important 2K race for us in the lead up to the National Schools’ Regatta at the end of May. The J15 VIII had a storming row to win their heat, after rowing though the field, the J16 four finished 3rd fastest in their qualifier, two Women’s Coxless Pairs raced, with one qualifying for the A-final, alongside our Women’s School Coxed Four, who finished 2nd in heat, won their repechage, and also made their A-final. This was a magnificent achievement to qualify four crews for A-finals, against top school and club competition.

In the finals, our J15 VIII had a great row to finish 3rd, as did our School Coxed Four in their race. Our ‘A’ Coxless pair was racing against adult rowers, and finished a highly commendable 4th in their final race. The J16 four competed against top UK schools, as well as a South African Schools Rowing Union crew, and finished 5th in their A-final.

These performances by our crews certainly show we are moving in the right direction, as the summer race season heats up, with the National Schools’ Regatta, Women’s Henley, and Henley Royal Regatta coming up. Well done to all our rowers and coaches!
