News Supporting the DEC Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal 20.02.2023

The whole school community has been shocked and moved by the news of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria and the resulting humanitarian disaster that has had a catastrophic impact on so many people’s lives. For some members of our community, especially for those with family members in the area, these are very distressing times indeed. In the face of such heart-breaking tragedy, our community came together and set ourselves the challenge of collectively running, walking, jogging, skipping and rowing 3,333km, the distance from Godolphin to the epi-centre of the earthquake.

Fortunately on our chosen day, the sun shone and with typical spirit, grit, and determination, together we exceeded our target and raised over £16,000 for the Save the Children DEC Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal – and we even managed to capture our efforts on video! The appeal will help provide families with the food, warm blankets, winter clothes and shelter materials they need to survive whilst providing safe spaces for families and children and psychological support to children so they can start to process their terrible experiences.
