News Saint Francis of Assisi Exhibition at the National Gallery 08.06.2023

On Wednesday, Philosophy and Religion students visited the captivating Saint Francis of Assisi exhibition at the National Gallery.

The exhibition provided a unique opportunity for students to delve into the life and teachings of the renowned Catholic saint. They encountered artworks from the thirteenth century to present day which showcased moments from his life and depicted his beliefs on poverty, compassion, and the interconnectedness of all living beings.

It was a marvellous exhibition with students recognising why the saint is a figure of enormous relevance to our time due to his spiritual radicalism, commitment to the poor, and love of God and nature, as well as his powerful appeals for peace, and openness to dialogue with other religions.
