News Henley Women’s Regatta 2023 22.06.2023

On Friday and Saturday last week, four Godolphin crews were in action racing at Henley Women’s Regatta.

On Friday our J16 four and quad travelled to compete in Henley Women’s Regatta 2023. The four crew had a storming time trial to qualify in the top 8 of 20 crews, to make the quarter finals on Saturday. The J16 quad had a brave row on the Friday time trial but unfortunately had a technical error which left them just shy of qualifying.

Saturday also saw our J18 double and J18 First Eight race. The double had a great time trial, amongst a very large field of crews but, despite giving their all, did not progress. The First Eight qualified in style from the time trial, and joined our J16 four in the first round of racing. The J16 four drew Surbiton, had a great start and stayed close to Surbiton throughout the race, eventually bowing out with a 1 ¼ length loss. The First Eight drew St Georges College, and had a fantastic row to win by two lengths, and qualify for the quarter-finals. Again drawing Surbiton, our First Eight put in a very determined show, and held the other crew to a 1 ¼ length, with our crew eventually bowing out to the National School’s Regatta silver medallists. The determination and fight shown by the First Eight enabled this crew to prequalify for Henley Royal Regatta in the Prince Philip Challenge Trophy, which is a great achievement!

We are proud of each of our crews for representing Godolphin so well at Henley Women’s Regatta.
