News Gender Awareness Workshop with Turn of Phrase 27.11.2020

On Tuesday, the Upper Sixth delved into the topics of gender equality, feminism and sexism in a thought-provoking session from communications and theatre company Turn of Phrase.

Turn of Phrase was created in 2013 with aim to give people the skills, freedom and power to speak in public, while addressing issues of gender equality in how we communicate. The workshop explored our unconscious bias around issues of gender, sexuality and appearance and consider its impact on how we relate to other people in our careers.  The workshop also considered how social media influences our assumptions, behaviour and perceptions of people and ourselves, looking in particular at the implications in terms of sexism and feminism.

It was fantastic to see students so engaged in the workshop, with the topics prompting some lively debate and thoughtful discussion.
