News GCSE Art and Design Exhibition 2022 16.06.2022

The Art and Design Department were delighted to present an exhibition of work by Year 11 GCSE candidates this week.

This is the first time for two years that an exhibition of examined work has been held and it was a real pleasure to see the work presented in the Bishop Centre. Acrylic and oil paintings, relief and intaglio printmaking, ceramics and glass work are all shown alongside the rich and varied sketchbooks that the students have completed. The work was inventive and the level of skill demonstrated was of an exceptionally high standard. Working around the theme of identity in Year 10, the students exhibited impressive large-scale portraits, and during Year 11 a range of outcomes which reflected the individual creative idea development of each student culminating in an exciting range of studies which in many cases included innovative mixed media work. The student’s experience of using a combination of digital and traditional darkroom photographic work was also celebrated in the show.

The private view of the exhibition was well attended by staff, parents, and the students themselves who clearly enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate their achievements.
