News Five fantastic days in El Puerto de Santa María for Year 8 Spanish students 15.06.2023

Year 8 Spanish students spent five fantastic days in El Puerto de Santa María, practising their Spanish and discovering one of Spain’s most beautiful regions – and of course eating chocolate con churros, tapas and plenty of ice-creams!

The mornings were spent in Spanish lessons, with our students impressing their teachers with their enthusiasm and communicative skills. Afternoon visits introduced the girls to Spain’s rich historical legacy, as exemplified in the medieval castle in El Puerto, which still contains a richly decorated wall from the original mosque. Other visits included the beautiful hill town of Ronda and a boat trip to Cádiz. A particular highlight was our day in Seville, where we climbed to the top of the Giralda, marvelled at the amazing altarpiece in the Cathedral, wandered through the rooms, courtyards and gardens of the royal palace – and by popular demand squeezed in another visit to everyone’s favourite shop, Ale Hop.

It was great to see our students embracing all new experiences, from dancing flamenco to trying cold salmorejo soup, and to see their enthusiasm for speaking Spanish continuing back in class this week.
