News British Sign Language Assembly 21.01.2022

Following on from a successful taster session in the Autumn Term, Sixth Form students Rojin and Aoife presented an assembly on British Sign Language to Year 10 this week.

Students learnt the basics of British Sign Language and were given a refresher course on the importance of inclusivity for the deaf community. The room was silent as the girls conversed as they would with a deaf person, with each student leaving the session able to have a short conversation using BSL.

Later this month the Lower School will experience a taster session of BSL before the official launch of Godolphin’s first ever British Sign Language Club. The club will provide a weekly opportunity for pupils to practice their conversation skills and Rojin and Aoife have big plans to involve more pupils and staff to during Challenge Your Limits Week in June.
