News Bonding Days, Ice-Breakers and Team-Building 06.09.2019

It was a great pleasure to welcome our new Year 7s and Sixth Formers to the school with a week of ice-breaker sessions, bonding days and team-building exercises with their new classmates.

In their new form groups, Year 7 students took part in ‘speed-dating’ which gave them the chance to get to know each other before they were split into teams and made their way around the school armed only with a map on a treasure hunt. On Friday they visited the Walton Firs Activity Centre in Chobham to round off a wonderful first week as Godolphin and Latymer students. They tried their hand at orienteering, archery, shelter building and tested their mettle in tackling the adventure course. There were lots of happy, smiling faces and the girls showed great energy and willingness to try new things.

It wasn’t just our new Year 7s that had a day of team-building activities; our Year 10s also tried their hand at numerous puzzles and games – including archery, blindfolded navigation and swamp crossing to name a few – designed by the Exploration Society to develop their team-working skills.

Monday was also a chance for our new Sixth Form students to meet their buddies and classmates while the Upper Sixth and Lower Sixth IB students enjoyed a picnic in the ecology garden to celebrate the beginning of a new IB year with the largest student cohort on record.

We hope that our new Year 7 and Sixth Form students enjoy their time at Godolphin and we look forward to seeing the friendships formed on their first week flourish in the years to come.
