News Year 7 MBA Students Develop Their Prototypes 03.06.2025
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week our Year 7s have been off-timetable and taking the next steps in their Mini Business Adventure (MBA) which is part of the G&LFutures programme.
They started the morning retrieving their previous ideas and pitching them to their partners in groups with the partners performing the ‘reverse’ pitch; this involves the partner pitching what they heard and understood from the initial pitch. They then role-played the roles of preacher, prosecutor and politician and developed an understanding of the perils of the Overconfidence Cycle versus the value of the Rethinking Cycle. They then undertook some desk research engaging with over twenty different articles and ideas curated specifically for this project to reframe or validate current thinking so that they could narrow down to just one idea.
Next up we were delighted to be joined by Tilly McLean (Class of 2024) who is now studying at Georgetown Business School and who delivered an engaging presentation to the girls on the 4 Ps of Marketing: Price, Product, Promotion and Place. The girls then used this information to finesse their ideas and to focus on the planning and implementation in terms of organisation, logistics and finance.
They then undertook a reflective writing and inspiration task to further develop their ideas on paper before receiving guidance on how to turn their ideas into actual prototypes. This really was one of the most exciting parts of the day and it was fantastic to see all of their prototypes on display in the Sports Hall.
More refinement and reflection will take place over the coming weeks as the girls nail down their products in time to launch their market stalls at the Summer Garden Party in July.
