News Year 7 Explore Medieval Life at St Albans Cathedral 30.04.2026
At the end of April, Year 7 students spent a gloriously sunny day on a journey through history at St Albans Cathedral, exploring the pivotal role of the Church in medieval England.
The day offered a range of immersive activities designed to deepen students’ understanding of the Church’s influence on medieval society. Through guided trails and hands-on workshops, they discovered how monasteries supported local communities, why pilgrimage mattered in spiritual life, and how faith shaped everyday experiences in the Middle Ages. Students also had the opportunity to unleash their creativity, trying their hand at brass rubbing and crafting illuminated letters in the style of medieval artisans in workshops led by the Cathedral’s education team.
The Cathedral’s education team were delighted to welcome Godolphin students once again, noting the school’s longstanding reputation for enthusiastic and engaged learners. This year’s cohort certainly upheld that tradition, earning praise for their curiosity, attentiveness, and thoughtful contributions throughout the day.
