News Year 10 Field Trip to Margam 09.06.2025
Around 70 Year 10 Geography students recently headed to South Wales for a few days of fieldwork. Two investigations were conducted: an urban study of Cardiff and a river study of the Ogmore.
The river was running high after heavy rain, but that didn’t dampen the girls’ spirits. Kitted out in wellies and waterproofs, they threw themselves into their river study with great enthusiasm and some impressive commitment to data collection.
Another day was spent in Cardiff, where the students carried out an urban study, looking at environmental quality and land use along a transect from the city centre to the Cardiff Bay redevelopment. As well as completing surveys, they spoke to members of the public as part of their research, representing the school with confidence and maturity. To round off the day, the group visited the historic Pierhead Building and the striking modern Senedd (Welsh Parliament). They heard an engaging talk about the sustainability of the building and how its design reflects the Welsh Government’s aims of transparency and openness.
