News Trump and the ‘Imperial Presidency’: Simon Lemieux Leads Upper Sixth Politics Workshop 27.02.2026

US politics author and teacher Simon Lemieux visited Godolphin and Latymer this week for a revision workshop with the Upper Sixth Politics students. Simon explored with the group the extent to which Trump is an ‘imperial’ president – one of the key debates in the A Level course – explaining Trump’s impact on both foreign and domestic policy and discussing recent events such as the State of the Union address and the Supreme Court judgement on tariffs. Students were able to ask Simon a range of questions related to his presentation, and lively debate ensued.

The session was very helpful for students, giving them a deep-dive into the Trump presidency, and Simon was also able to bring an exciting delivery of his latest US Politics extension book for the students. Thank you very much to Simon for coming to work with our Politics students.
