News The Glove Thief: A Triumph of Student-Led Theatre 27.11.2025
This year’s Senior Play, The Glove Thief, with a cast of students from Year 10 to the Upper Sixth, was an absolute joy to watch and a brilliant reminder of what our students can achieve when they take full ownership of a creative project. As the only completely student-led production at school, it was shaped from start to finish by the energetic and thoughtful leadership of Charlotte and Safia, Upper Sixth. Under their direction, the cast worked together with such good humour and commitment that their sense of ensemble became one of the production’s greatest strengths.
Staged in-the-round, the production made wonderful use of a small circular revolving platform, which proved to be an engaging and highly effective storytelling tool. This staging choice brought the audience right into the world of Tudor England and the intrigue of Elizabeth I’s court, allowing the ensemble’s work to be seen and appreciated from every angle. The students rose to the demands of the space with maturity, giving the whole production a clear, confident energy on stage.
One of the most striking aspects, though, was the unity of the ensemble. The students supported one another with generosity and clarity, and their shared movement and collective storytelling showed how instinctively they worked together. That spirit of collaboration is what elevated the entire production.
The backstage team also deserves huge credit, led by Gabby and Mariella. They were organised, calm and completely dependable — the kind of crew every production hopes for. The costumes looked fantastic too, helping to give the story texture and character.
We’re incredibly proud of every student involved. The Glove Thief showcased their imagination, discipline and enthusiasm, and it was a privilege to watch them share their work so confidently.
