News Strong Debut for Students at UKMT Team Maths Challenge 25.03.2026
Four students from Years 8 and 9 represented the school at the UKMT Team Maths Challenge held at Lister Community School on Monday, delivering an impressive performance against strong competition.
Year 8 students Hazel and Tianya, alongside Year 9 students Yael and Jinghan, competed against teams from nineteen other schools in a fast-paced and demanding series of mathematical challenges. The competition featured a variety of rounds, including a relay, a crossnumber puzzle, and quick-fire problem-solving tasks designed to test both accuracy and speed of thought.
Despite facing tough opposition, the team performed exceptionally well, securing an impressive 7th place overall. Notably, this was the first time all four students had taken part in the Team Maths Challenge, making their achievement even more commendable.
Throughout the day, the students demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving skills, fully embracing the collaborative spirit of the event. They also thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
