News SpringForward Impact Report: Godolphin Staff Help Widen Access to Higher Education 06.05.2026

This week the Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation has published its latest impact report demonstrating the success of the SpringForward programme in supporting care-leavers into higher education.

Godolphin and Latymer is one of 26 partner accredited schools within the RNCSF network contributing to the programme’s growth and impact since its launch. Over the years, our teachers and higher education staff have played an active role as mentors, working directly with young people to help them navigate pathways to university. Since 2021, more than 200 young people have benefited from the guidance provided by teacher mentors across participating schools.

The programme addresses a critical gap in support for children in care, who often feel that higher education is out of reach. Nationally, fewer than 13% of care-leavers progress to university, and less than 2% attend higher tariff institutions. By contrast, 76% of SpringForward participants have secured university offers to date. The report also highlights increased engagement and confidence among mentees. Participants were three times more likely to submit a UCAS application, and all those who attended at least three mentoring sessions reported a stronger understanding of their options and next steps. The findings underline the impact of sustained, personalised support in widening access to higher education.

Congratulations and thank you to all of the Godolphin staff who have been part of the success of the programme.
