News Setting the Standard in Teaching Classical Subjects 11.09.2025

Congratulations to Mr Renshaw for his inclusion in the recently published ‘Classical Civilisation and Ancient History in British Secondary Education’. The book aims to provide ‘a vital source of information; a concise historical, analytical and descriptive overview of qualifications in Classical Civilisation and Ancient History’.

The authors, Arlene Holmes-Henderson and Edith Hall, highlight teachers in a small number of independent schools who have provided significant additional support to advocating for the teaching of Classics, and our very own Mr Renshaw is first on their list! His achievements include founding an informal network of Ancient History teachers across England; creating an online resource bank; setting up regular digital TeachMeets; and developing the Classical Association’s podcast which is a fantastic free resource for teachers and students. His students and loyal brigade of Ancient World Breakfast Clubbers are very grateful to have such a passionate and knowledgeable teacher, and we are very proud that Mr Renshaw’s contributions have been acknowledged by his peers.
