News Remembrance Day Assembly – 80 Years Since the End of the Second World War 11.11.2025

This year’s Remembrance Day Assembly marked the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War — a poignant milestone that gave our whole school community the opportunity to pause, reflect, and remember the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who lived through one of the most defining periods in history.

The assembly, organised and led by History teacher, Dr Woodberry, was both moving and memorable. The girls listened with great respect and quiet reflection throughout. A sequence of readings traced the story of the war from its countdown to outbreak, through its darkest days, to the moment of peace in 1945. These powerful excerpts were delivered with composure and sincerity by Lower Sixth students Phaedra, Sienna, and Emma, whose voices captured the emotion and gravity of the occasion.

The atmosphere was deepened by a live performance from Bea, Upper Sixth, who played the Last Post on the trumpet – followed by a minute’s silence.

Together, the readings, reflections, and music created an assembly that was both solemn and uplifting — a fitting tribute to those who gave so much, and a reminder to future generations of the enduring importance of remembrance.
