News Politics Society: Old Dolphin Making a Difference 13.11.2025
The Politics Society was delighted to welcome back former student Issy Roberts (Class of 2019) who shared her experiences studying Human, Social and Political Sciences (HSPS) at Cambridge University and her inspiring career journey in the charity sector.
Now working as Volunteer Coordinator at the Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers, Issy spoke about why she decided to study Social Sciences at university and what she valued about the knowledge and skills gained from her time at Cambridge, in particular the ability read critically and discuss big ideas. Issy spoke about the elements of her time at Godolphin that had prepared her well for university and the admissions process, in particular carrying out her EPQ and discussions with peers and teachers both in lessons and beyond. Issy answered questions from students about life at Cambridge and how she approached deciding on a career afterwards. Alexia, Upper Sixth, said ‘Issy’s talk was really engaging and inspiring…it was helpful to hear how a former student had gone through the admissions process.’
A huge thank-you to Issy for returning to Godolphin to share her story and inspire the next generation of Dolphins to thinking about university and career choices and to have confidence in their ability to make a difference.
