Robot Revolution: Year 9 Cross Curricular Day

Posted: 10/11/17

On Wednesday 11 October, our Year 9s enjoyed Robot Revolution, a workshop hosted by Bright Futures, for Cross Curricular Day. Robot Revolution helps students understand the importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects, their relevance to good job prospects, their importance to the UK economy and their anticipated impact on the world economy.

At the beginning of the day, the girls were split into twenty-three teams to take part in some preliminary challenges. These included decoding words, discussing how robots affect our lives and a very popular neurological quiz designed to demonstrate how amazing the human brain is. The girls later learnt how to code, programme and build their own VEX robots. The day was a huge success and the girls came away with a greater understanding of robotics, coding and engineering.

On behalf of the school and the Year 9 girls, thank you, Bright Futures, for a fascinating insight into the world of robotics.
