News Middle School Cultural Celebration Assembly: Holy Week 05.03.2026
At this week’s Middle School Cultural Celebration Assembly, Year 10 students Anoushka and Jaein delivered an engaging presentation exploring the significance of Holy Week, the most important week in the Christian calendar.
The students guided their audience through the key moments that shape the week leading up to Easter, explaining the meaning behind several important observances. They began with Maundy Thursday, when Christians remember the Last Supper shared by Jesus Christ and his disciples. The presentation highlighted how this moment established the tradition of communion and introduced Jesus’ new commandment to “love one another.”
They then reflected on Good Friday, which commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus at Calvary, before concluding with Easter Sunday, the joyful celebration of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead.
Anoushka and Jaein shared how their own churches and families celebrate and mark these occasions and also the personal sacrifices they make during Lent, the 40 days leading up to Holy Week.
To conclude their lively and informative talk, the pair invited the audience to take part in an interactive quiz using Kahoot!, testing how closely their peers had been listening! The Cultural Assembly ended in its usual celebratory fashion with a themed treat for everyone — this time, appropriately, mini chocolate eggs. 🐣🍫
The presentation offered both insight and reflection, helping students better understand the traditions and meaning behind one of the most significant periods in the Christian year.
