News Lower Sixth History Lecture on Decolonisation During the Cold War 27.03.2026
Lower Sixth History students enriched their academic studies this week by attending a specialist lecture delivered by Professor Sarah Stockwell of King’s College London. The event, hosted by Latymer School, took place during Thursday lunchtime and focused on the theme of decolonisation during the Cold War.
The lecture provided students with valuable insights that directly support their IB History coursework, particularly topics such as South African Apartheid and the independence of Zimbabwe. By exploring these subjects through a broader global perspective, students were able to deepen their understanding of the political and historical forces shaping the late 20th century.
In addition to supporting the core curriculum, the talk proved highly beneficial for those undertaking Extended Project Qualifications (EPQs) and Extended Essays (EEs).
The event was a valuable opportunity for students to engage with university-level scholarship and expand their historical knowledge beyond the classroom.
