News Lower Sixth Book Swap Raises Funds for Year-Group Charities 26.03.2026
On Monday lunchtime, the Lower Sixth Charity Reps organised a Book Swap and Sale. Staff and students donated a brilliantly eclectic mixture of books for the event. One student was particularly excited to purchase Mrs Vantini’s very own copy of the GCSE text Lord of the Flies, complete with her (priceless) annotations. Thank you to all who donated books, and everyone who came along to swap and buy. The Book Swap raised £74.48 to be split between the year-group charities.
This was the latest charity event this term co-ordinated by the Charity Reps either to raise monies for a particular year-group charity or for funds raised to be split evenly. Other events so far this academic year have included the Christmas Games raising £338- split between all charities; Staff vs Students Quiz raising £113 for Mind; and the Movie Night raising £15 for the Shooting Stars Children’s Hospice. This is in addition to the £24,000 raised at the Christmas Bazaar split between the charities.
The year-group charities are:
- Evelina London Children’s Charity – Year 7
- WWF – Year 8
- Shooting Star Children’s Hospices – Year 9
- Mind – Year 10
- Freedom4Girls – Year 11
- The British Red Cross – Sixth Form
