News Lower School Art and Design Exhibition: Magnificent Structures 06.03.2026

On Wednesday evening, we celebrated the creative work of every student in Years 7, 8, and 9 in our annual Art and Design exhibition. This year’s show was inspired by the theme Magnificent Structures. This incredibly exciting presentation of work provided our Lower School artists with the opportunity to respond to the theme with innovative and thoughtful interpretations.

This year’s ideas ranged from the Opening a Can of Kindness series, which was intended to encourage us all to recognise the importance of being considerate and empathetic towards others, to explorations of the remarkable structures of plants such as succulents and cacti, which have developed specialised forms and mechanisms to thrive in arid environments.

Giant paper prickly pear structures were positioned among refined ceramic seed pods, while a weaver bird colony hung from the balconies. This created an immersive experience that encouraged the many students and guests in attendance to consider not only the visual qualities of the exhibits, but also the original thinking that underpinned what had been created. We are incredibly proud of the creativity, curiosity and imagination shown by all our students.
