News John Locke Institute Global Essay Prize 04.09.2025

Congratulations to Alexia, Lower Sixth, and Millan Jhingan (Class of 2025) who have both been commended for their entries in the University of Oxford and Princeton John Locke Institute Global Essay Prize and have been invited to attend the award ceremonies. Alexia was commended in the Politics category and wrote an essay on ‘Democracy’ and Millan in the Law category writing on ‘Private Property Rights and Theft’.

A special congratulations too, to Year 11 student, Ceci, who was shortlisted in the Politics category.

The John Locke Institute is a joint collaboration between the University of Oxford and Princeton in the US and this year’s competition attracted 63,328 entries. The competition encourages young students to cultivate characteristics such as: independent thought, depth of knowledge, clear reasoning, critical analysis and persuasive style, and allows students to explore a wide range of challenging and interesting questions beyond the school curriculum. Essays are submitted in seven subject categories: Philosophy, Politics, Economics, History, Psychology, Theology and Law.
