News Innovation and Leadership Course 10.01.2025

At the beginning of the Spring Term we were delighted to welcome a large cohort of Year 9 girls and their parents to a taster session for our new Innovation and Leadership course which will be launched as part of the Middle School curriculum in September 2025. Year 10 students will be able to choose the course as an alternative to one of their GCSE options.

The fast-paced taster session was led by Mr John Carroll, Assistant Head Co-Curricular and Educational Developments, with Mr Mark Thomlinson, Ealing Council’s Head of Climate Action and Sustainability. The aim was for our teams of parents and students to develop an initial understanding of the content and concepts for the new course through a live problem solving activity. Our teams were set the challenge of designing a campaign for Ealing council to encourage residents of the Borough to travel more sustainably. Activities were structured to enable teams to engage in the design thinking process; to develop a clear concept and strategy; and to present their ideas to another team. It was wonderful to see the students and parents working collaboratively together with the girls often taking the lead in their teams.

The Innovation and Leadership course will develop the work of the G&L Futures programme and will teach leadership, communication and thinking skills, alongside behavioural science and the opportunity to undertake a community impact project with a practical focus on solving London’s most pressing social issues. Plus, students will engage with AI tools and gain insights from Think Again by Adam Grant, making this a truly transformative experience. The course will be delivered by teachers from Godolphin and Latymer with input from expert partners and with content hosted on a custom-built WordPress platform featuring interactive modules, AI-driven tools, and engaging resources to guide students’ learning journey. More information about the new Innovation and Leadership course can be found in the Year 10 and 11 Curriculum Handbook.
