News Great Britain Rowing Gold for Hannah and Lara 13.08.2025
It was an absolutely fantastic end to the 24/25 season for two of our Lower Sixth rowers, Hannah and Lara.
Hannah represented Great Britain in the women’s 8+ crew at the Coupe de la Jeunesse in Linz, Austria, 1-3 August. This is an Olympic rowing event run by the International Rowing Federation for athletes in the under-19 category. Five countries took part in the Junior Women’s Eight event – Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Hungary and the Netherlands – and the GB girls left the rest of the crews in their wake to come away with the Gold medal. Congratulations to Hannah!
Congratulations and celebrations were also the order of the day for Lara who was in the stroke seat for the Great Britain crew at the women’s 8+, 2025 Under 19 World Rowing Championships in Lithuania, 6-10 August, racing against Australia, Germany, Italy, Romania, and the USA. After a very strong row in the heats the GB crew went into the final with the fastest time and went on to win Gold.
Also, many congratulation to one of our coaches, Bertie, on coaching England’s Junior Men’s Team to victory at the Home International Regatta.
We’re so proud of what Hannah and Lara have achieved with the dedicated support of their coaches and parents. They demonstrated great commitment to their training throughout the whole school year and their success is well-deserved. We look forward to having them back in the Godolphin crews next season after a well deserved break.
