Art & DesignDesign and Creativity
Art and Design is extremely popular at Godolphin both as an academic subject but also as part of the extra-curricular programme. Students take advantage of the fantastic facilities housed in five studio classrooms including a pottery with it’s own potters wheels and kiln and darkroom. We offer all Art and Design specialisms and work broadly across ceramics, cold glass, painterly applications, photography, and printmaking – we have huge 3D printer – sculpture, textiles, and fashion.
The annual Lower School Art and Design Exhibition is a highlight of the school calendar featuring work from every single student in Years 7 – 9. This year’s theme is Spectacular Structures and previous years have included Takeaway Food and Crufts. There are also annual exhibitions from our GCSE, A Level and IB artists.
Extra-curricular activities include art clubs that focus on 3D design, photography, ceramics, textiles, and sculpture. Trips include visits to the National Portrait Gallery; Tate Gallery; Worthing beach; Design Museum; The Welcome Trust, Emirates Air Line cable cars; and the CASS Sculpture Foundation.
We have a very strong cohort of students who study GCSE, A level and IB art and each year we offer art scholarships at Sixth Form.
