News Exploring Andalucía: Year 10 Spanish trip to Granada 25.04.2025
During the first week of the Easter break, 31 students, accompanied by their teachers, set off for the vibrant and culturally rich city of Granada. The trip was an incredible chance for students to practise their Spanish and immerse themselves in the fascinating history of the region.
The group touched down in Granada just after midday on Monday and were warmly welcomed by their host families for the week. After settling in and having lunch, they headed off on a guided tour of the city, taking in highlights such as the majestic cathedral and the lively, aromatic former Moorish bazaar.
Each day began with around three hours of Spanish lessons, and Tuesday afternoon brought one of the trip’s highlights — a visit to La Alhambra, one of Spain’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Split into two groups, the students explored the stunning palaces and the beautifully landscaped gardens of the Generalife, gaining insight into the Moorish legacy that shapes the city’s identity.
Wednesday offered similar delights. After the morning’s classes, the group took part in an energetic Flamenco dance workshop before heading to the atmospheric Albaicín district. Wandering its narrow, winding streets, they saw how Moorish and Andalusian styles blend together to create an enchanting district of the city. This culminated with a delicious spot of tea at a traditional Arabic tea shop (or a milkshake if one was so inclined).
On the final evening, the group enjoyed a captivating live Flamenco performance that was every bit as passionate and unforgettable as expected. It was a truly memorable experience for all involved, and we’re already looking forward to our next adventure in Granada!
