News Diplomacy and Distinction at Wetherby School MUN 01.12.2025

Our Model United Nations (MUN) team had a successful weekend of discussion and debate at Wetherby School. The theme of the weekend was: Unity through diplomacy: defending rights, building trust. The tone for the event was set by presentations from both a British and a Qatari diplomat during the General Assembly sessions on Friday and Saturday, who both offered valuable insights into the process and value of diplomacy.

Students enjoyed discussing a wide range of political issues from the crisis in Sudan to the impact of data centres on water supplies. This was another very successful conference for Godolphin and Latymer. We were delighted to win ‘Best Delegation’ (USA – Alara, Annabel, Siena, Upper Sixth, Sophie, Lower Sixth, and Maya, Year 11). Individual students also received recognition for their contributions to their committees: Zeynep, Lower Sixth, won ‘Best Delegate’ for her role representing Japan; Ceci, Year 11, won ‘Best First Timer’, also representing Japan; and Aphra, Lower Sixth, was Commended representing the USA in ECOSOC. It was also the final conference for our MUN Captains, Unaiza and Alexia, Upper Sixth, who have contributed a huge amount to MUN at Godolphin during their period of leadership. Both Captains, as well as Ealaf, Upper Sixth, were asked to be guest chairs at the conference, demonstrating their excellent reputation in the MUN community. Thank you very much to Wetherby School for hosting an excellent conference.
