News Children’s Mental Health Week 2025 07.02.2025

We celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week with a number of engaging activities designed to promote mental wellbeing, self-expression and reflection. This year’s theme was ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’, encouraging students to develop self-awareness and resilience to navigate life’s challenges.

Lower School students enjoyed a special screening of Inside Out 2, a film that explores emotions and personal growth. Creative activities such as cress head making and bracelet crafting provided students with hands-on ways to express themselves and reflect on their emotions. Throughout the week, the Sixth Form Common Room was transformed in a wellness retreat, with a number of form-time activities to promote mindfulness and relaxation.

A highlight of the week was an inspiring assembly led by Dr Alexandra Sharpe, a Paediatric Resident Doctor at UCLH. She spoke about the deep connection between physical and mental health, explaining how early life experiences impact our wellbeing. Dr. Sharpe emphasised that mental health is just as important as physical health, encouraging students to take proactive steps in caring for their minds. She challenged students to reflect on what makes them feel happy, relaxed, or safe and to incorporate these positive influences into their daily lives.

Through these activities and discussions, Children’s Mental Health Week reinforced the importance of understanding ourselves to better cope with life’s ups and downs. By building self-awareness and resilience, students are empowered to support their own mental wellbeing and that of those around them.
