News Bronze Medals at Westminster School’s Classical Reading Competition 05.03.2026
Eight students from Years 8, 10, 11 and the Lower Sixth took part in the annual Classical Reading Competition at Westminster School on Wednesday 4 March, delivering impressive performances of passages in both Latin and Greek. The competition, which attracts students and teachers from a range of schools, gave participants the opportunity to demonstrate their linguistic skill, confidence and interpretation of classical texts before a large audience.
All eight students represented the school with distinction, showing remarkable courage and creativity in their readings. For the Year 8 students, it was their very first visit to the competition, making their achievement of a bronze medal particularly notable. Year 11 students, who were returning for their second and third appearances at the event, also secured bronze medals. Their success highlighted the value of persistence and continued dedication to the study and performance of classical languages.
The event proved to be a rewarding experience for all involved, celebrating both the enduring appeal of Latin and Greek and the enthusiasm of the students who bring these ancient texts to life.
