News A Day at Westminster: Students Meet Leading Figures in Politics 04.03.2026

Sixth Form politicians headed to Westminster on Monday for an exciting day at the national conference for Politics students, held at Central Hall, Westminster. They were delighted to hear from a wide range of politicians throughout the day; Zack Polanski, Laila Cunningham, Zarah Sultana, Nusrat Ghani, Daisy Cooper, Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, Alastair Campbell, Lord Brady and Wes Streeting all spoke to the students on a variety of issues from the NHS to student loans to the crisis in Iran.

Each speaker also faced a lively Q&A with students posing questions on political, economic and ethical issues, widening the debate. Students were able to meet some political figures at the break times, and a group of Godolphin students were able to discuss getting into politics with Alastair Campbell. Coco in the Lower Sixth commented ‘listening to such differing views was incredibly interesting, whether or not they aligned with my personal beliefs’. Rose reflected ‘I learned a lot about the different UK political parties in a unique way as it was truly their own beliefs, not twisted by the media’.

It was a very stimulating day for our students and a unique opportunity to engage with politicians and their ideas first hand.
