News Rosh Hashanah Assembly 18.09.2025
In September, Mila and Lara, Year 11, spoke to Middle School students about the Jewish festival of Rosh Hashanah as part of our series of Cultural Celebrations Assemblies. They explained how this head of year, two-day festival takes place in September or October — according to the Hebrew calendar — and begins ten days of self-reflection, repentance, and renewal. The joyous festival involves prayer services, sounding the shofar (ram’s horn), festive meals with sweet foods like apples and honey and is a period of self-reflection culminating in the day of Yom Kippur. Mila and Lara spoke about their own traditions of celebration including a special meal and visiting the synagogue with their families. The Year 10s and 11s were very appreciative of the girls’ assembly and were particularly excited to hear that honey cake would be on the menu for lunch!
We look forward to hearing about a whole range of different religious and cultural events that celebrate the diversity of our school community.
