News LGBT+ History Month 25.02.2021

To celebrate LGBT+ History month, the student-led Gay-Straight Alliance have run a series of online talks.

These began with ‘The Importance of LGBT+ History Month’, followed by ‘LGBT+ Art and Artists Throughout History’ and finally ‘Same-sex relationships and gender identity in Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire’. All have been well attended by students from all year groups as well as staff.

The theme of this year’s LGBT+ History Month is ‘Body, Mind, Spirit’ and this ties in with a number of topics the GSA have run talks on this year, such as the activist Lou Sullivan, LGBT+ Asylum Seekers, the 1969 film ‘The Gay Deceivers’, the 2020 documentary ‘A Secret Love’ and LGBT+ legal changes 1990-2010.

Students from the GSA are excited to be working with the school’s Diversity Committee, looking at how inclusivity and equality can be promoted in the school community.
