News Year 10 Spanish Visit to Granada 26.04.2019
21 girls in Year 10 spent the week in Granada improving their Spanish and learning a great deal about the history, culture and religions of Spain.
The days were divided into language lessons in the mornings before participating in various cultural activities and excursions in the afternoons. Their morning lessons certainly came in handy as they embarked on guided walking tours of the historical city centre and the Albaicín neighbourhood, savouring the tranquility of a traditional Carmen(garden) and spectacular views of the Alhambra, before exploring this mesmerising monument for themselves.
The girls were also able to try their hand at learning a Flamenco routine with a native dancer, which certainly made them further appreciate the skills involved in the Flamenco show in the Sacromonte caves at the end of the week. The highlight was a visit to the traditional white-washed villages of the Alpujarras, learning about local crafts and sampling creative flavours of chocolate – a fitting treat for the Easter holidays.
By the end of the week, the girls had become very fond of their host families and promised to visit again.
