The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London.  The school’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work.  The students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.

Godolphin and Latymer School is known for the strength of its pastoral care, and this is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to lead and shape the pastoral direction of the school and to strengthen the provision further. The Deputy Head (Pastoral) will join the Senior Leadership Team to play a key role in the future development of this leading girls’ school.

Responsible for the overall quality of pastoral care provided to all students, the Deputy Head (Pastoral) oversees all elements of pastoral education within the School, including responsibility for the provision of a high quality, stimulating and stretching pastoral curriculum.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Deputy Head (Academic) and should be committed to the continued close alignment between the academic and pastoral sides of school life, seeking to ensure that the pastoral team’s work is underpinned by a unified and shared vision around the School’s approach to pastoral care.

The role will involve communication with and leadership of a wide range of senior staff and other colleagues, as well as students, and it is expected that the successful applicant will help to shape a range of key elements within the School’s strategy for delivering an outstanding education to all.

Applications are invited from candidates who are outstanding teachers with a strong academic record, experience at middle or senior management and a keen interest in the pastoral care of pupils.

We offer excellent opportunities for training and professional development and the role would be ideally suited to an excellent teacher seeking eventual promotion to headship.

Although we will consider candidates from any of the subject specialisms which we offer, applicants must have taught up to Key Stage 5.

The salary will be commensurate with the responsibility of this post.

Accommodation may be available for new staff in a local six-unit property.

We would urge those considering applying for this role to explore our website fully to gain a comprehensive understanding of our remarkable school.

Please note that applications must be made on the school’s application form.  Neither CVs nor late applications will be accepted.

The closing date for applications is noon on Wednesday 26 April 2023.
It is anticipated that first round interviews will take place during the week commencing Monday 1 May 2023.

All staff working in the school during the school day will have contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity.  As a teaching member of staff you will be working directly with, and be responsible for, the children that you teach. You are also likely to have contact with other pupils on a regular basis which may include specific pastoral or other responsibilities for pupils whom you do not teach.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
