News Success for Godolphin Rowers in Ball Cup Regatta 12.05.2022

J14 and J15 rowers spent their Sunday out on the water in glorious sunshine when they travelled to Eton Dorney to compete in the Ball Cup Regatta South.

Held on the Olympic rowing course at Eton Dorney Lake using six lanes side by side, one of the two J14 quads made the final for their event, and both J15 quads made theirs. With some fast racing in both categories, and close finishes, our crews finished just outside of the medals. However, their competitive spirit was in plain view, and the future of the Boat Club is bright with rowers of this calibre.

The blue riband event of the regatta, was the Ball Cup for girls’ coxed four. Our J15s were racing against much older Sixth Form students from another school, but took half a length lead off the start, which they increased to a two length win by the finish. The J15 four put in a marvellous performance, winning the Ball Cup trophy, and weighty gold medals. The Boat Club now looks forward to the National Schools’ Regatta at the end of May.
