News Senior House Music Festival 2023 03.02.2023

Students in Year 10 to the Upper Sixth showcased their musical talents in our Senior House Music Festival, before performing to an audience of friends and family at the Grand Final on Thursday evening.

Preliminary rounds took place throughout the week, with students performing challenging pieces from the likes of Rachmaninoff to The Scarlett Pimpernell in categories ranging from MT, Jazz and Popular Song to Instrumental Ensemble. The final was adjudicated by Professor Jeremy Summerly, who is Director of Studies for Music at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge, as well as Director of the Oxford Camerata Choir and St Luke’s Church Chelsea. The high quality of the finalists really took Jeremy by surprise, with secure, interpretively confident performances which in some cases he compared favourably with second-year students at music college. The audience were equally appreciative of the performances, and of Prof Summerly’s feedback.
