News Politics Society Guest Speaker: Old Dolphin Sophia Dyvik-Henke (Class of 2019) 27.06.2023

We were delighted to welcome back Old Dolphin Sophia Dyvik-Henke (Class of 2019) to speak to a group of students from different year groups about her experiences at university.

Sophia has just finished studying Human, Social and Political Sciences at Pembroke College, Cambridge, specialising in Politics and Anthropology. Sophia spoke about the aspects of studying the course she had enjoyed, in particular a fascinating, three-week anthropology fieldwork trip to Iceland to research online citizens’ assemblies. She also reflected on her experiences preparing for the Cambridge applications process, emphasising the importance of personal interest and wider reading beyond the curriculum. Students were able to ask Sophia more about her time studying HSPS and went away with a more developed understanding of studying political sciences and life at Cambridge. Sophia shared that she is now planning to combine her passions for environmental issues and politics by training to become a barrister specialising in environmental issues – it was very inspiring to hear her talk about how she felt the legal profession can bring about change in this area.

We would like to thank Sophia for coming back to Godolphin to share her invaluable insight and expertise.
