News OxCam Preparation Workshop and Medics Day  17.05.2019

Last Saturday, the Higher Education & Careers department offered Lower Sixth students an interesting and informative morning of advice for potential Oxbridge applicants. As well as a fantastic turnout from our own Lower Sixth girls, we also welcomed students from Kensington Aldridge Academy and Greenford High School. Sessions were held on personal statement writing and entrance examination preparation among others. A particular highlight was seeing students from all three schools discuss and debate answers together during the interview preparation session facilitated by a number of teachers from a range of academic departments. We were also very pleased to welcome Katherine Drew from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge who gave students a detailed insight into the Oxbridge applications process during her closing talk.

students from Kensington Aldridge Academy, Sacred Heart High School and Hammersmith Academy also joined our Lower Sixth aspiring medics and dentists to begin their preparation for the UCAT and BMAT university admissions assessments with a tutor from The Medic Portal. The students had time to reflect on, and share the insight they have gained from, work experience, volunteering and a range of enrichment activities – a skill which they will continue to exercise as they begin to draft their personal statements and prepare for university interviews in the Upper Sixth.
