News Nancy Providing PPE 14.05.2020

We have been inspired by Nancy, Lower Sixth, who has been busy making face masks for the local community and drawstring laundry bags for Gloucester’s NHS ‘Rapid Response Appeal’. The masks come in three sizes and fit snugly around the chin and over the nose, with adjustable elastic holding them over the ears. Nancy has created them in a variety of patterns and all to the specific standards for use against the coronavirus: they need to be at least 65% poly cotton or 35% cotton and able to be washed at 60 degrees. The drawstring laundry bags are used by NHS workers to put their used uniforms into and then washed altogether to stop further infection.

Nancy is now creating a ‘how to’ video that will be shared on Godophin’s Art and Design micro-site and which we hope will encourage other students who might also be keen to provide vital PPE to the NHS, care homes or vulnerable people in the community.
