News Lower Sixth students inspire creativity with art workshop for dementia group 24.05.2024

Lower Sixth students May, Georgia and Millie recently made a significant impact in our local community by delivering a series of art workshops for a group of dementia and pre-dementia sufferers. Organised in collaboration with the Hammersmith and Fulham Dementia Action Alliance, the workshops aimed to provide a creative and therapeutic outlet for the participants.

May, Georgia and Millie designed and executed two sessions, focusing on the art of tiling and mosaics. During the workshops, they guided the participants in using stencils to create intricate and beautiful designs. The quality of the artwork produced during these sessions surpassed expectations, leaving both the students and participants pleasantly surprised and proud of their achievements.

The project concluded with the participants creating their own coasters. These handcrafted items were then varnished by the student team and delivered back to the participants this week, providing a lasting memento of their artistic endeavours.

This initiative not only offered the participants a chance to engage in a rewarding activity but also highlighted the power of art in enhancing the well-being of individuals living with dementia.
