News Literature Week 2019 28.06.2019

Literature Week has seen a range of activities and events, all designed to inspire conversations about books and reading.

All week, members of staff wore coloured stickers relating to book genres and themes, ranging from fiction featuring empathy, to books on society and anthropology, that students could question and record information for house points. Tanya Landman, the Carnegie Medal winning author of historical fiction, talked to Years 9 & 10 on inspiration and Adisa the Verbaliser, a performance poet, spent the day working with Year 7s to master the art of rhyme in poetry workshops.

Summer Reading, with old-fashioned lemonade, was well attended in the Library Garden, as was the Literary Cake sale. The Lower School Reading Competition and House Literature Quiz finished things off on Friday, with the Summer Readathon launched for the summer holidays.
