News Lillian and Annika Crowned STEM Computing Challenge Champions 29.04.2022

Many congratulations to Lower Sixth students Lillian and Annika, winners of the STEM Computing Challenge.

The STEM Computing Challenge, which ran at the conclusion of STEM Week, consisted of ten challenges before each of the teams submitted a transistor count. Three teams – Alice in STEMlandia (a family team led by Alice in Year 7), Skr Skr (a student team of Annika and Lillian in the Lower Sixth), and Omega (a family team led by Tara in Year 10) – progressed through all ten challenges, but first place (and the giant jar of Creme Eggs!) went to Skr Skr.

Notwithstanding the crowning of Skr Skr, the incredible efforts of Alice in STEMlandia and Omega cannot go unrewarded and both of these teams received a box of Maltesers truffles. Both teams were close with their transistor count and Alice in STEMlandia was remarkable for accessing all ten challenges in only two days. Special mentions are also due to: The Debug Thugs (Indigo, Ella and Lulu in the Lower Sixth), Decoding Dolphins (Matilda and Ceci in Year 7), Creme Egg Fans (Anushka and Isabel in Year 7), The Goldings (Rachel and Gemma in Years 7 and 10), and Minella Pythons (a family team led by Mariella in Year 8). All of these teams will receive a modest prize to celebrate their impressive participation.

We were delighted to see so many teams taking part and for the enthusiasm the competition generated right across the Godolphin and Latymer community.
