On Wednesday, our first ever crew to race in the Prince Philip Trophy for junior women’s eights competed at Henley Royal Regatta.
The crew, consisting of Year 11, Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth students, had rowed a great race at Henley Women’s Regatta the weekend before, prequalified for the first round of sixteen crews at Henley Royal Regatta. Meeting the favourite crew for this event, Henley Rowing Club, in the first round was never going to be easy. Our crew came out fighting, and stayed with Henley at the start of the race. The rowers gave it their all, but Henley went on to win the race by three and a half lengths.
The majority of our crew can come back next year to race this event again, and it will be great to see them race down the famous course at Henley, if they can again qualify!
