News Concert at St John’s Smith Square 04.11.2022

On the first Saturday of half-term, members of our Junior and Senior Chamber Choirs performed alongside West London Sinfonia in the prestigious St John’s Smith Square concert hall.

The concert was the orchestra’s delayed 50th Anniversary Concert and concluded with Holst’s Planets Suite – in which there is a female chorus in the final movement, Neptune. This is a fiendishly difficult piece to sing in; the irregular time signature, the six individual vocal lines and performing on the gallery, very far away from the conductor! The girls rose to the challenge and sang beautifully. The standing ovation lasted for a long time, and it was a real pleasure to be involved in such an important occasion for one of our local orchestras.
