News Autumn Concert 2019 14.11.2019

On Tuesday evening, we were delighted to welcome the school community to our annual Autumn Concert that showcased the sublime musicianship of our school orchestras, a selection of instrumental ensembles and our choirs.

Playing to a packed Bishop Centre, Godolphin musicians displayed a dazzling variety of repertoire, from the ravishing opening movement of Mozart’s Concerto for Flute in G, stunningly performed by Charlotte Wan in the Lower Sixth, to Themes from Sheherezade, The Nutcracker, Britten’s Simple Symphony for string.

The second half of the concert featured the beautiful harmonies of our choirs, including the Senior Chamber Choir’s stirring performance of Song for Athene (composed for Princess Diana’s funeral by John Tavener), Year 7’s rousing rendition of Memory, and an uplifting finale performance of Rhythm of Life sung (and choreographed!) by the Year 8 and 9 choir.

It really was a fabulous evening that celebrated the incredible musical talent that permeates our school. With thanks to everyone who took part, and our fabulous Music staff for coordinating and organising the concert.
